Our Projects
At Haulaway, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide waste management and recycling services for large projects, especially abundant throughout Melbourne and wider Victoria.
With our excellent reputation in the industry for providing a reliable, responsive and committed service, and our proven ability to work well with partnering construction and engineering companies, it’s a privilege for Haulaway to continuously be chosen as the Melbourne Waste Management provider for these large-scale Projects.
West Gate Tunnel Project
The West Gate Tunnel Project includes the construction of the West Gate Tunnel, which will offer commuters an alternative to the West Gate Bridge, and the widening and improvement of the West Gate Bridge. This endeavours to reduce congestion, provide for a more efficient travel, and remove trucks out of residential areas.
Haulaway began working with CPB Contractors and John Holland on their joint venture of the widening of the West Gate Freeway and construction of the twin tunnels in May 2018. This is one of the largest infrastructure jobs ever undertaken in Victoria, and Haulaway is proud to be the Waste Management and Recycling provider for the entire Project.
We have a range of bins across the Project sites from small office bins servicing general waste, commingled and organics, through to large bulk bins to remove the heavy construction waste and recycling. We cater for all the waste management needs of the Project including hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Our involvement and service of the West Gate Tunnel Project is closely managed by our dedicated and experienced Project Management Team at Haulaway.
This Project is due to be completed by the end of 2022.
Metro Tunnel Project
The Metro Tunnel Project is an extensive rail infrastructure extension from South Yarra, via a series of tunnels under the city, to North Melbourne. This Project includes the construction of five new underground stations, 9kms of twin rail tunnels and new underground walkways connecting the Metro Tunnel and City Loop services. Alongside the West Gate Tunnel Project, this venture is the other major infrastructure project currently in Victoria, and the largest rail development since the construction of the City Loop in the 1970s.
Haulaway is working in conjunction with a Social Enterprise, Outlook Environmental Services on the Metro Tunnel Project. We provide bins and transportation, as well as logistical management and scheduling for the movement of waste to Outlook’s Transfer Stations in Darebin and Hallam.
Our contribution to the Metro Tunnel Project is closely managed by Haulaway’s experienced and dedicated Project Management Team.
This Project is due to be completed by late 2025.
Mernda Rail Extension Project
The Mernda Rail Extension built 8kms of new rail line from South Morang to Mernda. This Extension Project also included the construction of three new train stations, several rail overpasses and 2,000 new car parking spaces, as well as new walking and cycling paths extending to existing paths and linking the three stations.
The Mernda Rail Extension was a massive project for which Haulaway was fortunate to be the Waste Management and Recycling provider. Through assigning a dedicated Project Manager and implementing customised solutions and services, which included covering days, nights and weekends, Haulaway was able to exceed the service expectations.
It was through this Project that Haulaway began working in conjunction with Outlook Environmental, offering support and employment opportunities to socially disadvantaged members of the community.
This Project was completed in 2018.
Level Crossing Removal Project
The Level Crossing Removal Project is the Victoria Government’s commitment to the removal of 75 congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
Haulaway’s history with the Level Crossing Removal Authority has been extensive over the years. We have been the Waste Management provider for many of the level crossing removals from Ormond, Bentleigh, and McKinnon, through Seaford to Carrum. Our most recent rail crossing removals are Toorak Road in Kooyong, Reservoir, Cardinia Road in Pakenham, and the Dandenong area crossings.
Haulaway is able to provide waste management solutions for all types of waste that arise from these Projects including general office rubbish, food waste and recycling, through to on-site construction waste and EPA specialised disposal of various contaminants.
Haulaway will continue to provide reliable waste management services to the Level Crossing Removal Project sites until its completion.
